Morning Service 'The Spirit, the Apostles, & Us'

  • Ministry Area Services
  • Passage: John 14:25-26
  • 0-14 Child care & Activities
  • In-person
  • Online

How do Christians claim we can know God? The answer is: because Jesus, God’s Son, has revealed him. So how can we know about Jesus? The answer is: through the testimony of the apostles – the ‘official’ eye-and-ear-witnesses whom Jesus chose. But then how do we know they remembered things accurately? And why do we trust their understanding of who Jesus is and what he came to do? Ian Garrett opens up John 14 to show how, on the night before he died, Jesus promised the apostles that after his death and resurrection, the Holy Spirit would remind them of everything they needed to remember, and give them a full and accurate understanding of it all. And the result of that promise was ultimately the New Testament – without which we couldn’t know Jesus or the Father he came to reveal. Which is why we mustn’t just think about the Spirit and us – but about the Spirit, the apostles, and us.

Pathfinders

11-14s Bible study

Pathfinders is the perfect way to use your Sunday morning! Every week is a chance to catch up with mates as we gather round the Bible, chat it through in small groups and see what God is saying about our lives today.

Here's how it works:

- Come to the 10.30am service at church. The place to sit is the balcony above the main door - you'll see the rest of us up there.

- After 15mins or so we'll head across to 3 Osborne Road for Pathfinders, which will kick off at about 10.45am.

- We'll then wrap up in time for the end of the service and will bring you back across to find your parents.

CYFA

14-18s Bible study

Come join us for CYFA! We study the Bible together in small groups, seeking to discover what God is saying about life today. If you're not in a CYFA small group just get in touch and we can set you up. It's open to everyone in school years 10-13 (or equivalent), so feel free to invite your mates along too.

You'll find us at 3 Osborne Road at 4.30pm: we'll be at the door to meet you. We wrap up at 6pm in time to enjoy the incredible CYFA Tea together before heading off at 6.30pm. Some folk head home, but a lot of us dash across to church in time for the evening service: why not stick around for that too?
