How Film & Fiction Help us to Better Love Our Neighbours as Ourselves
Many of us love film and books, but many of us don’t always know how what we see and read ‘out there in the world’ connects to the day to day life of our Christian faith. If only we had chance to hear from someone who has thought long and hard about these things! We do!
Dr Mary Walker McCampbell, Newcastle alumni, Professor of Humanities in America & author of ‘Imagining Our Neighbors as Ourselves:
How Art Shapes Empathy’ suggests that to exercise our imaginations through film and literature we can deepen our empathy for others; see our neighbours more as God sees them; wake us up from our tendency just to consume and encourage us to look beyond ourselves.
This really is a unique opportunity so don’t miss it: 8-9.30pm Church Hall. Come for 7.45pm if you want a cuppa and obligatory doughnut first!
Free. No need to sign up.
